Kathy Carter
Arkadelphia - Clark County
Kathy is an "English-as-a-Second Language" teacher in five
Arkadelphia Public Schools, K-12. She also contracts with Henderson
State University as a supervisor of teacher interns. Kathy averages
4 interns per semester at various schools in the state.
She holds a
B.A. degree from Howard Payne University in behavioral science and
sociology, a teaching certificate in elementary and secondary
education from Tarleton State University, a Master’s in education in
early childhood development and a CERTIFICATE ? in English as a
Second Language from UALR. She is the president of Delta Kappa
Gamma, an organization to promote and recognize women in education.
Kathy believes a major issue in Arkansas today is the education of
migrant and immigrant children who are being left behind. She and
her husband, Terry, have a grown daughter.
