LeadAR Staff
Dr. Joe Waldrum
Dr.
Joe Waldrum began his Extension career in 1976 as an area soybean
specialist in Stuttgart. In 1980, he was named Extension Pesticide
Specialist and transferred to the State Extension Office in Little
Rock. In 1989, he was appointed as the State Leader of Agriculture,
Economic and Resource Development where he administered all
Extension programs in these areas on a statewide basis. He was named
to direct the LeadAR program and to begin development of a formal
in-house training program for all Extension staff in January, 1993.
In January, 2001, in addition to his LeadAR responsibilities, he was
appointed to direct the newly established Organizational, Staff and
Leadership Development section for the Extension Service. He was
appointed Professor - Leadership Development in October, 2006 to
focus exclusively on long term program and financial support
development for LeadAR.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in biology from Hendrix College,
and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in plant physiology
from the University of Nebraska.
He has a grown son and daughter who are college graduates but not
yet paid for.
Dot Temple
Dorothy
Parker Temple ("Dot") went to work in the summer of 1972, assigned to help with the
Switchboard and various other areas as needed in the State Office.
Dot was soon assigned to work with J. B. Williams in the Community
Development Program Area. Then, being an enthusiast about typing
and design, she was asked to help open the newly designed Word
Processing Center as a Mag Card/Composer Operator. In this job, Dot
learned about all areas of work in the Extension Service designing
leaflets, miscellaneous publications and fact sheets as well as
daily correspondence. Dot went back to work with J. B. (to be known
as the LeadAR Father) to help him and Extension administration draft
a proposal to W. K. Kellogg Foundation in Michigan for what later
became The LeadAR Program. This career path has led Dot to be with
the LeadAR Program since its inception in 1983 with the grant
writing through to the current group, LeadAR Class 13 – and three
directors! Dot was promoted in October, 2006, to her current
position as LeadAR Program Coordinator.
Dot graduated
as an honor student at Stuttgart High School in 1971, and finished a
secretarial science program at Capital City Business College in
Little Rock. She received her LeadAR Diploma with Class 6.
Dot and her
husband, Phil, have a daughter who is in Honors College at UCA,
looking forward to a master degree in occupational therapy and a
bachelor’s degree in psychology.
