"You must be the change you want to see in the world."- Ghandi
The LeadAR experience was the "change" that allowed me to stretch
and discover horizons that I would not have otherwise considered. As
a result, I grew personally and professionally and am now a champion
for improving the status quo.

Without the leadership training and communication skills that I
received through LeadAR, I would not have had the confidence to
stand in front of large groups of total strangers and run for public
office. LeadAR developed my community involvement through
educational seminars and networking. Our local community leadership
program benefited from my participation in LeadAR because of the
experiences I shared with our curriculum committee. Potential
leaders and dynamic leaders will benefit from this program. As a
result of LeadAR, I have made friends all across the state of
Arkansas.

I was in the LeadAR program from1997–1999. During this time, I
traveled to Bolivia and fell in love with Latin America and
traveling. I credit the program for giving me the courage to make
big changes. Those changes included leaving my career and going back
to college. I graduated from the UCA Honors College with a B.A. in
Fine Art in 2003. The Honors College at UCA afforded me
opportunities to travel and study abroad. These experiences gave me
a new appreciation for Arkansas. I have taken my talents back to my
home town. I worked for two years as the Main Street Director and am
currently Executive Director for the Gates Rogers Foundation, whose
major project is the South Fork Nature Center in Choctaw. I also am
the owner and operator of the Fresh Air Yoga Studio and Art Gallery
in downtown Clinton.

LeadAR added to my family. When we traveled to Bolivia on our
International trip, we met a young family who would be coming to
Fayetteville to attend school. That was 10 years ago, and they have
become a part of our family. We have been through graduations,
surgeries, deaths, the birth of a new baby and baptisms with them.
They spend holidays in our home, and we have visited their home in
Bolivia for a family wedding. We feel truly blessed to have found
this family through LeadAR.
