Class 2 (1985-1987)

I'm definitely a more effective leader as a result of having received LeadAR training. The training gave me the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and to network. In community development, I constantly use the lessons that LeadAR taught me.

The LeadAR experience is one I will never forget. This training allowed me to improve my personal leadership skills as well as my professional career. LeadAR tremendously increased my awareness of the major issues currently facing AR and the challenges we expect to face in the future. The relationships formed while in LeadAR will last forever. Today I remain committed to being a part of the LeadAR program by supporting educational seminars for future classes.

It has been 20 years since I finished LeadAR Class 2. I signed on hoping to prove to myself that I could leave the farm and it would operate while I was gone. I found that my job and farm were better for it. I also wanted to get out of the situation of associating primarily with my farm interests in my area of Arkansas. I learned about things I was familiar with but in other parts of the state. I learned about Arkansas people, places, problems and advantages. I experienced the great similarities and distinct differences of rural Arkansas. I am better at understanding positions with which I still disagree. If you want to learn and work for the improvement of Arkansas and develop lifelong friendships with people you would have never met, as I have, LeadAR is a program I highly urge you to consider.
