Awards for LeadAROn March 28, 1996, in Little Rock, the LeadAR program was recognized by the Arkansas League of Women Voters with the presentation of the Horizon Award. This major award is given every other year by the League to individuals and organizations which enhance the quality of life in Arkansas by increasing public awareness of important governmental issues or by strengthening the democratic process. On June 1, 2003 the LeadAR program was recognized by the Southern Growth Policies Board at their annual meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi as a Southern Innovator in Leadership Development and Civic Engagement. The award was one of only two given for the state of Arkansas presented to Dr. Joe Waldrum by Governor Mike Huckabee. On October 19, 2007, in Miami, Florida, Dr. Joe Waldrum was recognized by the International Association of Programs of Agricultural Leadership (IAPAL) with the Outstanding Program Director Leadership Award of 2007 for his work as the director of the LeadAR program.
