How to Apply
Interviews
Interviews of applicants are generally conducted within three
Extension districts: Ozark, Ouachita, and Delta (http://www.uaex.edu/findus/county_offices.htm). Interviews are conducted at two locations per district. Interview
sites are chosen at central locations based on applicant clusters in
each district to reduce travel time as much as possible. Many times
the interviews are conducted at a county or state Extension office.
The interview with each selection committee lasts about thirty
minutes. The goal of the interview is to meet the applicant face to
face to learn more about their leadership potential. If the
applicant is married or engaged, the spouse or fiancée is strongly
encouraged to attend the interview to ensure the committee that they
clearly understand the commitment of time the applicant will make,
if selected for the program.
Before the interview with the committee, the applicant and/or
spouse will visit with the program director. The director will
review the purpose of the process and identify those on the
selection committee, program dates and time commitment, expectations
of personal conduct in the program, methods of payment of the
tuition, grants available for those in financial need, expenses not
paid for by the program, and other details of how the program is
conducted.
