August 3.  4th Annual East Tennessee Veterans Business Conference.  For details and registration form, please visit http://www.cis.tennessee.edu/training/ptac/veteran.shtml .  There is no charge but advance registration is required due to limited space.  Presented by Tennessee PTAC, 888-763-7439. 

August 11.  The University of Texas at Arlington announces its annual Government Procurement Conference, 8:00 to 4:00 at Arlington Convention Center.  Hosted by Cross Timbers Procurement Center (the PTAC serving northeast Texas) and others.  They expect 200 exhibitors, 150 buyers, and 1,000 attendees, so this is a major event for Arkansas companies to find markets next door in Texas. August 11.  The feds will be performing monthly maintenance on the Business Partner Network system (http://www.bpn.gov/).  The system will be unavailable between 9:00 pm and midnight.  BPN includes Central Contractor Registration (CCR), Online Reps & Certs (ORCA), Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS), Excluded Parties List, and other databases.

August 11-13.  How To Get Paid By Uncle Sam Conference, a 2 ½ day conference and workshop presented by The Federal Government Receivables and Research Bureau, will be held in St. Louis, Mo at the Crown Plaza Hotel Downtown at the Arch.  The purpose of the conference is to help companies get paid on time by training and enhancing their ability to become more proficient with billing, collections, cash applications , and contracting to the U.S. federal government.  Speakers will include employees from DFAS Columbus, DCMA, Department of the Treasury, and U.S. Army Finance Command.  For detailed information visit http://fgrrb.org/StLouisAug2010/StLouis2010.html.

September 3-5.  Volunteer opportunity to help in Mena (Polk County) when the re-building crew from the foundation named "NewYorkSaysThankyou.org" comes to town.  About 300 people will come during the County Fair and will build 5 homes AND an Extension Meeting Space/Demonstration Kitchen.  The County Extension Office is the County, the University of Arkansas, and the U. S. Dept of Agriculture cooperating.  Although this isn't exactly a government contract matter, it is your opportunity to help Mena recover from last year's tornado.  For information or to volunteer, contact the Polk County Extension Office at 479-394-6018. 

September 6.  All APAC offices closed in observance of Labor Day.

September 7-9.  The UID Forum, sponsored by the Department of Defense, will be held in Orlando, FL at the Hilton Orlando, 6001 Destination Parkway, Orlando.  The Forum is designed to provide practical guidance to help educate military program managers and DoD contractors achieve successful UID implementation.  Participants will learn about Standards and marking guidelines, Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF), IUID Registry and Unique Item Identifiers (UII), and much more.  For more information and online registration go to http://www.uidforum.com
