May 21. The Internal Revenue Service hosts a free
national phone forum for small businesses on "Calling All First Time Schedule C
Filers". It is presented three times that day, at 9:00 am, 12:00 noon, and 3:00

session will focus on common pitfalls for new small businesses to avoid. To

topics. The speaker is Sue Coates, Instructor and Program Director of the
Arkansas Procurement Assistance Center. The morning topic from 10:00-12:00 will
be an introduction to Small Business Innovation Research contracts, and
the afternoon topic from 1:00-4:00 will be What It Takes To Be A Government
Contractor. People may register separately for each session and need not

June 18. The Small Business Development Center
presents Residential Communities Initiative Subcontractor Seminar.
This is a vendor forum conducted by
Mr. Gary Bertrand for Picerne Military Housing, which is one of several
professional property management and development companies that are
participating in the nationwide Military Housing Privatization Program. The
purpose of this seminar is to acquaint prospective new subcontractors with PMH's
program and with its procedures to become a qualified PMH subcontractor. The
event will be 2:00 to 4:00 at the UALR College of Business. Any company
interested in subcontracting opportunities on military housing projects, private
or public, may contact APAC for procurement technical assistance and active
